II STEROTACTIC BODY RADIOTHERAPY WORKSHOP (SBRT SPANISH GROUP)

Next 12th April 2013 the “II SBRT Workshop” will be celebrated in Madrid organized by the SBRT SG and supported by the SEOR.  The meeting will take place in the Madrid Sanchinarro Hospital (Madrid, Spain). The Workshop will check the SBRT situation in Spain, will present the medical physics group consensus, will discuss the proposed protocols for lung, liver, spinal and nodes lesions and finally, the groups of prostate and brain lesions frameless will be constituted. El próximo 12-4-13 se va a celebrar en el H. Madrid Sanchinarro la “II Jornada de Radioterapia Estereotáctica Corporal”. En ella se va a revisar a situación de la SBRT en España, se va a presentar el consenso del grupo de física médica, se van a discutir los protocolos propuestos para lesiones pulmonares, hepáticas, espinales y ganglionares y, por último, se constituirán los grupos de próstata y cerebral sin marco. V CONGRESSO SOCIEDADE PORTUGESA DE RADIOTERAPIA ONCOLOGIA

Past 7, 8 and 9 March 2013, the V Portuguese Radiotherapy and Oncology Congress (SPRO) was celebrated in Coimbra (Portugal).

In the Congress the present and future of SBRT and was reviewed in depth and its  main indications were analysed: primary lung, spinal and liver lesions. Nowadays, the technique is expanding in Portugal and five portuguese centers are associated with SBRT-SG group.

Los pasados 7, 8 y 9 de Marzo de 2013 se celebró en Coimbra (Portugal) el V Congreso Portugués de Radioterapia y Oncología (SPRO).

En el Congreso se revisó en profundidad el presente y futuro de la SBRT y se repasaron sus principales indicaciones: lesiones pulmonares primarias, espinales y hepáticas. En Portugal la técnica está en expansión en estos momentos y 5 de sus centros están asociados al grupo SBRT-SG.

WELCOME TO TWO NEW SPANISH MEMBERS TO SBRT SG / BIENVENIDA A DOS NUEVOS MIEMBROS ESPAÑOLES AL SBRT SG

Two Spanish hospitals have joined as new members. These hospitals are: Medical Center Teknon and Santa Creu I Sant Pau Hospital, both of them from Barcelona. Welcome!

Therefore, 40 hospitals are adhered to the SBRT-SG (35 Spanish and 5 partners of Portugal) !

BEGINNING OF SBRT TREATMENTS IN THE “IMOMA", ASTURIAS, SPAIN / INICIO DE SBRT EN EL “IMOMA” DE ASTURIAS

In May 2012, the "IMOMA" has realized two first treatments with SBRT in a primary lung cancer patient and a retroperitoneal tumor. They will extend indications progressively.

From the SBRT SG we want to congratulate and to encourage them to share their experiences with us.  

En Mayo de 2012 el IMOMA de Asturias ha realizado sus primeros tratamientos con SBRT en un paciente con Ca. de pulmón y un tumor retroperioneal. Ampliarán indicaciones progresivamente.

I STEREOTACTIC BODY RADIOTHERAPY (SBRT) COURSE

The Spanish School of Radiation Oncology (EEOR) has organized this first national course in Barcelona (Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital) on the 7th and 8th of May, 2012.

The course has been presented by the Dr. Ferrán Guedea (The Director of EEOR and Radiation Oncology Department of the ICO, Barcelona) and the Dr. Alfredo Ramos (SEOR’s President and Radiation Oncology Department of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, Madrid). The course has been directed by the Dr. Miquel Maciá (Radiation Oncology Department of the Duran i Reynalds Hospital, Hospitalet) and the Dr. Carmen Rubio (Radiation Oncology Department of Sanchinarro Hospital, Madrid).

The SBRT is an emergent technology in Spain (nowadays 20 hospitals have it active) and in continuous evolution that wakes great interest up between the radiation oncologists.

The course has possessed a hundred of national and international participants specialists in Radiation Oncology and Physics from Portugal, France, Belgium and the USA. The teacher Carlos A. Perez, author of the book " Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology " that is reference for specialists of the whole world, closed the course.

iPlan Treatment Planning for SRS & SBRT

Please be invited to our iPlan Treatment Planning Workshop that will take place right before ESTRO in Barcelona on May 9, 2012.

This one-day workshop will focus on stereotactic treatment planning for cranial and body radiosurgery with iPlan RT 4.5. Participants will learn how to inversely optimize a volumetric radiosurgical plan for the best conformity and address intra-fraction and inter-fraction anatomical variations.
