Next 26-27th January, 2012 the “I Radiosurgery Meeting: Brain and Spinal metastases” will be celebrated in Castellon organized by a multidisciplinary team of the Castellon Hospital. The meeting will take place in the Hotel Civis Castellon Center (Castellon, Spain).
The meeting will count with the presence of Dr. Josh Yamada (MSKCC, New York) and
Dr. Peter C. Gerzten (UPM; Pittsburgh) and other national relevant speakers who will relate their clinical experience and practical clinical cases.

On the 17th and 18th of November it will be celebrated in CROASA Málaga (Spain) the Scientific Meeting: "Clinical Experience in VMAT-IMRT: Advances in Radiotherapy and Oncology".
We believe that it can be of interest for many centers that realizes SBRT since these technologies can be applied in the planning and delivery of SBRT treatments. For this reason, we diffuse this meeting from this blog in order that the interested professionals could be registered following the instructions of the informative document.

The major efficiency of the treatment, the decrease of side effects and the improvement in the quality of life in the cancer patients will constitute the principal contributions of the linear accelerator TrueBeamSTx of the Instituto de Medicina Oncológica y Molecular de Asturias (IMOMA). It will start treatments next autumn.
The new equipment is "extremely versatile", with aptitude to attend from the "simpler and conventional" treatments up to the "more complexes" as the SBRT.
The TrueBeamSTx will do the radiations more accurate, more rapid and less aggressive and will facilitate the reduction of 1 or 2 centimeters to 1 or 2 millimeters in the treatment zone of oncological processes and will code the percentages of treatment success in 90 % in some cases opposite to 0 previous %.

In August, 2011, the "Virgen de la Victoria" Hospital has realized the first treatment with SBRT in a patient with primary lung cancer. They will extend indications progressively.
From the SBRT SG we want to congratulate and to encourage them to share their experiences.
En Agosto de 2011 el H. Virgen de la Victoria ha realizado su primer tratamiento con SBRT en un paciente con Ca. de pulmón primario. Ampliarán indicaciones progresivamente.

We recommend to the SBRT Spanish Group the magazine "Journal of Radiosurgery and SBRT (JRSBRT)" that has edited its first number in January, 2011 and whose publisher is the Dr. Samuel Ryu.
It would be very interesting to present works and to consult the published ones in it since nowadays it is the only publication with the aim to stimulate publications of radiosurgery and SBRT.

On June 15, 2011 a SBRT plenary session was celebrated in the Congress XVI of the Radiotherapy and Oncology Spanish Society (SEOR). In her there took part relevant referees as Dra. H. Cárdenes (Indianapolis, USA), that review the results of this treatment modality in hepatic primary and secondary lesions; Dra. B. Améndola (Miami, USA), that commented on the results in spinal pathology; Dr. C. Miyamoto (Philadelphia, USA), that spoke about the utilization of this technology in T1-T2 N0 lung cancer and Dr. S. Bral (Aalst, Belgium), that shared the European experience in the treatment of non small cell lung cancer treated with Novalis system. The SBRT plenary session was moderated by Dra. Carmen Rubio (Madrid, Spain and SBRT SG Coordinator) and Dr. M. Santos (Benidorm, Spain)El 15 de Junio de 2011 se celebró una sesión plenaria sobre SBRT en el XVI Congreso de la Sociedad Española de Oncología Radioterápica (SEOR). En ella participaron ponentes de la relevancia de la Dra. H. Cárdenes (Indianapolis, EEUU) que revisó los resultados de esta técnica en lesiones hepáticas primarias y secundarias; la Dra. B. Last June 14, 2011 the first meeting of the SBRT Spanish Group was celebrated in the context of the Congress XVI of the Radiotherapy and Oncology Spanish Society (SEOR). Dra. Higinia Cárdenes (Indiana University School of Medicine. Indianapolis, USA), who is world referee in this treatment modality, accompanied us on this first day
In this meeting, two chapters were presented: 1) the short-term aims of the group and 2) the Networking 2.0 tools that are going to be in use by the members. The presentation of this blog was included
The meeting was a success of participation since there came representatives of at least 23 centers assigned up to the moment and others that also are interested in joining
El pasado 14 de Junio de 2011 se celebró la primera reunión del grupo SBRT SG en el contexto del XVI Congreso de la Sociedad Española de Oncología Radioterápica (SEOR). La Dra. Higinia Cárdenes (Indiana University School of Medicine. Indianapolis, EEUU), referente mundial en esta técnica , nos acompañó en este primer día de recorrido
En esta reunión se presentaron los objetivos a corto plazo del grupo y las herramientas Networking 2.0. que se van a utilizar por parte de los integrantes, incluido este mismo blog
La reunión fue un éxito de participación ya que acudieron representantes de los 23 centros adscritos hasta el momento y otros que también están interesados en incorporarse
